Philosophy

Woody Creek Kids will focus on the child as a whole and as an individual. With a focus on social-emotional growth, we will help children to learn and develop in all areas of development. Woody Creek Kids will help the children to respect themselves, others and the environment around them. We will use the environment around us to teach the children life skills to help them be successful in everything they do.

Toddlers:

STAFF

Christina Holloway: Christina is the owner, director, preschool teacher, bus driver and accountant for WCK. Christina has worked in the early childhood field since 1997 and has a degree in human development and family studies. Christina’s passion is caring for all children and their families. 

Melisa Sweet: Mel comes from a family of educators and has always had a passion for children. Mel has worked with children for 25 years and her experience includes teaching children’s ski lessons, children’s yoga lessons and, since 2012, teaching preschool. Mel has been with WCK since its inception in August 2016 and enjoys working with toddlers and preschoolers alike. She is currently one of the lead teachers in the preschool room, as well as the manager for our WCK location. Mel feels most passionate about the social-emotional aspect of early childhood education and she strives to make every child feel valued.

Brenda R. Martinez works in the toddler room alongside her fabulous team.  She was born and raised in Oshkosh, WI and loves being surrounded by nature and cold weather.  Her greatest joy is her family and being fully present in every moment.  She loves that children find pleasure in the simple things in life and feels that her role in life is making a positive difference in the lives of children and others around her.  Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her 2.5 year old daughter, husband, and doggy son Leopold.

Becky Fontanez: Becky works in the preschool. Becky has worked at WCK since January 2018.  She always connects with the children in a playful and joyful way. Becky always goes the extra mile to understand each child individually. 

Shana Miller: Shana Miller was born and raised here in the Roaring Fork Valley. She has been working in education for 15 years with kids of all ages, though teaching preschool is her real passion! Outside of work her hobbies include reading, painting, cooking and baking, and live music. She also loves outdoor activities such as hiking, playing golf, rafting, and camping. Shana is dedicated to continuing her education in the ECE field and is so happy to be working with your kiddos as a part of the WCK team!

Crystal Jensen: Crystal Jensen was born and raised in Hampton VA. The hotel and service industry led her to spending a few years in Saint Augustine Florida and ultimately brought her to Aspen in 2019.  This is her first year at Woody Creek Kids and she is honored for the opportunity to teach and care for the children in the Toddler room.

 Sofi Delgado – Sofi is a dedicated educator from Argentina with over 10 years of experience working with children. She currently works in the toddler room, where she passionately engages with little kids. Outside of work, Sofi enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and camping.

 Arabella Cipponeri – Arabella grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley and worked as a counselor for the Aspen Youth Center throughout highschool. She greatly enjoys working with young children and experiencing their energy as they discover things for the first time. Arabella believes children already have an innate wisdom and she feels privileged to be able to support them as they bring ideas into the world.
